2010 Fun N Sun Catalina 22 Regatta

January 8th,  9th, & 10th, 2010

 Key Largo, Florida

Hello everyone!
The holidays are around the corner and so is Fun N Sun! The dates have changed slightly to give everyone a break from immediately after the holidays and a chance to soak up some warm Key Largo sun.  Attached is the NOR for the regatta. It will be at Gilbert's Resort. A block of rooms have been reserved. The room rates are $120.00 per night upstairs and $130.00 per night downstairs. Please mention "Catalina 22 Regatta" and contact Julia or Liz. Their number is (305) 451-1133 and the website is www.gilbertsresort.com.  There is a $40.00 dockage fee. Boats will be allowed to haul out for the night. Unfortunately we don't have control over hotel rates, but the registration is cheap at $35.00, in advance or on the day of racing.

Last year we had a fabulous dinner, (the clam chowder was awesome) and arrangements have been made for this years dinner to be even better. On the menu is clam chowder, Golden fried Mahi Mahi, Blackened chicken breast with homemade hot salsa, mashed potatoes, rice pilaf, mixed garden greens, dinner rolls and soda, ice tea or coffee. Dinner cost is $15.50 per person and includes gratuity and tax. Drinks other than soda, tea or coffee are on your own.

Gene Cochran will running the Friday night race and it is always comical and a lot of fun. PRO is Garie Blackwell, who along with Jay have always done an outstanding job. Should you want to crew or need crew, please contact us and we'll do our best to make arrangements. There's always a group looking to race in some warm sunshine.

If your planning on attending please drop me an email or give me a call so we can get a boat count. The regatta is part of the Florida Traveling Series, so I do expect a few of the following boats to participate:
Game Over - Gene Cochran
True Love - Frank Brown
Gold Rush - Randy Pawlowski
Sold Out - Jerry Butz
Mercury Rising - Brad Ruffe
Girl Dog - Paul Hellings
Spirit of 76 - Lorry Simpkins
Bangerang - Al Pivonka
Goblin - Glenn Warner
Speed Demon - Liza & Kevin
... and lets not forget about our northern visitors (Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee)- they always seem to come down in packs!!

For those of you who are contemplating bringing your boats down and may wish to participate in the Florida Midwinters, in Cocoa, on Feb. 20th and 21st, there are several people, including myself, who have plenty of space to keep your boat (securely) so you don't have to trailer them back north right away. Just let us know.

Please share this email with our other C22 sailors who may be interested. Should you have any questions please contact myself (772) 460-8359 or Gene Cochran at (772) 332-6648, Gene923@aol.com.

I hope you can join us!

On behalf of Fleet 38 may everyone have a happy and safe holiday season.
